O'Connor urged to stay
Four female senators are actively pleading with Judge Sandra Day O'Connor to reconsider her resignation from the Supreme Court. In a letter to O'Connor, Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine and Democrats Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Barbara Boxer of California asked the nation's first female justice to consider staying on the high court if Chief Justice Rehnquist relinquishes the top spot.Thank god for these women. It doesn't hurt to ask, right? |

Barbara Boxer can do no wrong. I don't think the shittiness that would happen should she follow through with her retirement has really sunken in yet.
Perhaps it will work...these days I am conviced that almost anything crazy can happen.
Damn. If this isn't a great argument for supporting bipartisan strategies for increasing the number of women in elective office, then I don't know what is.
