Are you authorized to reproduce?

Not if you're an unmarried woman living in Indiana! For those of you who aren't readers of the Daily Kos, I'll happily drop this secondhand knowledge on your asses:
Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do become pregnant "by means other than sexual intercourse."
It gets better . . .
Only women who are married will be considered for the "gestational certificate" that must be presented to any doctor who facilitates the pregnancy. Further, the "gestational certificate" will only be given to married couples that successfully complete the same screening process currently required by law of adoptive parents.
I wish they would just stop beating around the bush and get things out of the closet: this is about those pagan-worshiping, woman-loving, man-hating dykes. Because, if we're honest with ourselves, we all know that lesbians would be horrible mothers if given the chance, so why risk our nations future in the hands of those carpet munchers?

"Gestational certificates?" I don't think so. This is about restricting parenting to heterosexuals. This is about structural violence against the gay community that will persist as long as crazy people are running our country and the state of Indiana.

The Health Finance Commission will be meeting on October 20 to discuss the bill. Contact them.

(Thanks to Amber for the hookup and a good laugh.)

Anti-gay?! Maybe it's anti-surrogate, think about that!

'Only women who are married will be considered for the "gestational certificate"'.....Surrogate mothers typically aren't married to the couple they're acting as surrogates for, hence the anti-surrogate potential. In any case, the point is moot.
